How You Can Help
The growth and success of Friends of Film, Video & Arts depends on the efforts of its members and funding obtained through donations and grants. There are many ways you can participate in FoFVA and New Mexico's growing arts industries.
Join the FoFVA
It takes many kinds of talent in many areas to make an organization successful. FoFVA members do not have to be professional filmmakers, videographers or artists; in fact, the only criterion for joining the FoFVA is having the interest and energy to participate in FoFVA projects and help achieve its goals. Whether your talents are in fine arts, grant writing, accounting, journalism, promotions, or other areas, we encourage you to join the organization, participate in our discussion group, and help realize the vision for New Mexico's arts industries!
FoFVA members enjoy many benefits, including:
- » Getting involved, participating and having a voice in the indie filmmaking community;
- » Dedicated online moderated membership site for postings, announcements, and discussions;
- » Monthly meetings, which enable you to let the group know about your projects, what you need/what you offer;
- » A complementary Harwood Art Center membership (a $40 value) for your first year;
- » FoFVA membership directory;
- » Educational workshops and programs;
- » Discounts on FoFVA workshops and offerings;
- » Member-to-member discounts and offerings (ongoing);
- » Fiscal Sponsorship, for an active member's project;
- » A link on the FoFVA site to your personal/business site;
- » Discounts to advertise on our site;
- » Being part of a non-profit that is active in community outreach; and
- » Collaborating with interested film organizations.
And a special invitation from our founder, Anne Stirling:
If you haven't yet participated in our award-winning series Director's Cut NM, in another FoFVA project, or been to one of our gatherings, this is a great time to get involved. (Plus it can be fun - yes, really!) Assist in just one of the many opportunities FoFVA offers, and you will learn, meet more members, help with an important role, have a stake in the show, receive a screen credit, and get a better sense of the collaborative nature of this organization. We are planning more episodes of Director's Cut NM, a show by and about NM filmmakers. Why not offer to help in a post-production role?
FoFVA's first two years of "currency" have been to operate and accomplish amazing feats through members' generous personal investment of time and energy. However, as we did in 2007, we will be seeking funding for upcoming projects for 2008 that will be based on the "proof of concept" of the first four completed shows - produced entirely through volunteer efforts, all professionally done. Our funding approach and interest will be to demonstrate that filmmaking members of FoFVA do help one another, and collaborate to get things done. Naturally, member help and support matters in many ways in how we will look for funding and move forward in 2008 and beyond.
Thank you for how and when you choose to participate this year, and next.
Cheers for now,
Anne

Make a Donation
The FoFVA relies on financial support from individuals, businesses, communities and state and federal grants to ensure successful completion of its projects and goals. As an entity under the Harwood Art Center, the FoFVA is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization with 501(c)3 status - which means your donations are tax-deductible*.
You can help FoFVA achieve its goals, mentor emerging filmmakers and artists, and document and promote New Mexico's rich culture in the arts by making a monetary donation. Monetary donations are easy: just send a check or money order made out to "Harwood Art Center" with the memo annotation "FoFVA" to:
FoFVA
P.O. Box 688
Corrales, NM 87048-0688
USA
Your donation will be put directly into the FoFVA account at the HAC. It's that easy!
You may also want to contribute through planned giving. Not only does this benefit the FoFVA, but it benefits you by decreasing your taxes, maximizing and conserving your family's wealth, and ensuring your desires for charitable giving are carried out. If you are interested in donating through planned giving, please contact Anne Stirling at stirling@filmvideoarts.org or 505.897.2101for more information.
Another easy way to support the FoFVA is through donating frequent flyer miles. Members must sometimes travel to meet critical project needs and support outreach and collaboration efforts with Canada and other arts organizations in the US. Mentoring young or emerging filmmakers and artists sometimes means traveling as part of the learning experience of designing a project. Your donation of frequent flyer miles can go a long way toward supporting these FoFVA projects and developing emerging talent. If you would like to know more about contributing frequent flyer miles, please contact Anne Stirling at stirling@filmvideoarts.org or 505.897.2101.
* The Friends of Film, Video & Arts (FoFVA) is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization under the fiscal umbrella of the Harwood Art Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Promote the FoFVA as an Advocate
FoFVA is always in need of advocates to achieve our goal of growing, funding and promoting local filmmaking, videography, and arts and the talent that produces it through collaboration and mutual support. Advocates are a specific type of member that serve as liaisons between the FoFVA and the community, media and other arts organizations. Please contact Anne Stirling at stirling@filmvideoarts.org or 505.897.2101to find out how you can become a FoFVA Advocate.
